A good fit makes a piece feel like yours. Here is how to choose a necklace length, read earring and hoop sizes, and size a bracelet. Each listing gives the measurements I have for that piece. If you can't find a measurement you need, please write to me at Hello@NBjewelryboutique.com before you order.
Necklace lengths
Necklace length is measured along the chain, from clasp to clasp. This chart is a general guide to where common lengths tend to sit. The exact fit varies with your neck, your build and the neckline you're wearing.
| Style | Typical length | Where it usually sits |
|---|---|---|
| Choker | 14 to 16 inches | Close around the base of the neck |
| Princess | 17 to 19 inches | At or just below the collarbone |
| Matinee | 20 to 24 inches | Between the collarbone and the bust |
| Opera | 28 to 36 inches | At or below the bust |
How to find your length. Lay a piece of string or a soft measuring tape around your neck where you'd like the necklace to rest, then measure it flat. Or measure a necklace you already own and love.
In our shop right now:
- The Modern Silver Link Chain Necklace is 18 inches with a 1-inch adjustable extension.
- The Elegant Gold Link Chain Necklace is 18 inches with an adjustable extender.
- The 18" Turquoise Necklace with 18kt Gold-Filled Discs is a single handmade 18-inch strand.
- The Gray Square Baroque Pearl Necklace, Hand-Knotted on Silk, is 18 inches.
For the other necklaces, chains and pendants, the length is listed on each product page. Email me if you need a measurement.
Layering. Wearing two or more necklaces together looks best when their lengths differ by about 2 to 4 inches, so each one has room to be seen.
Earring and hoop sizing
Our earrings come in several styles: studs, hoops, drops and dangles. Here is how to read the sizes.
- Studs. Size is the width of the stone or design on the front of the ear.
- Hoops. Size is the diameter, measured straight across the inside of the hoop. A larger diameter means a bolder, more visible hoop. Some of our hoops are elongated, so they are measured by their length.
- Drops and dangles. Size is the total length, measured from the top of the ear wire or post to the bottom of the piece. Longer drops move more and show more.
Not sure what you'll like? Compare with a pair you already own. Measure the width or length of that pair with a ruler, then compare it with the measurements in the listing.
In our shop right now: The Minimalist Yellow Gold Elongated Hoop Earrings measure approximately 2 inches in length.
Measurements are listed on each product page. Email me if you need a size for a particular pair.
A note on earring types. Studs and other post earrings are final sale under our Refund Policy, for hygiene reasons. Hook-style earrings and others with an easily swapped ear wire can be returned. If you're not sure which type a pair is, please ask me before you order.
Bracelet and bangle sizing
We carry chain bracelets and bangles. A bracelet should feel comfortable and sit where you like it, whether that's close to the wrist or slightly loose.
How to measure your wrist. Wrap a soft measuring tape, or a strip of paper or string, around your wrist just above the wrist bone. If you use string or paper, mark where it overlaps and measure it against a ruler.
Choosing a length. As a general rule, add about half an inch to your wrist measurement for a close fit, and about an inch for a more relaxed fit. A chunkier chain may want a bit more room.
Bangles. A bangle needs to slip over the widest part of your hand. Press your thumb and little finger together and measure around your knuckles. Choose a bangle with an inner circumference at least that size.
In our shop right now:
- The Golden Seashell Chain Bracelet has an adjustable chain.
- The Sculptural Coral Branch Design Yellow Gold Bangle has a hinged back for easy wear.
- The Elegant Rose Gold Bangles, a trio of slim bangles in gold-plated sterling silver, are made to order. After your purchase, you'll receive detailed guidance on measuring and submitting your size.
Lengths are listed on each product page. Email me if you need a measurement or an adjustable fit.
All bangles are final sale.

I can resize or adjust most pieces, though not all. If you'd like a different necklace length or bracelet size, please email me at Hello@NBjewelryboutique.com with the piece and the measurement you need, and I'll let you know what's possible.
